'Four Days in October' Salutes the Big Cimarron Valley
Montrose, CO – John W. Carls of Montrose, unveils more than 30 views of Western Colorado in his most recent photography exhibition, 'Four Days in October'. The public is invited at no charge to the opening reception, 5:30pm – 8:00pm, Friday January 6, at Around the Corner Art Gallery, 447 East Main Street, Montrose, CO.
Around the Corner Art Gallery owners, Bob and Pat Brown said, “This is not your typical landscape photography. John Carls finds patterns in nature and you just know he spends time there. His shots make you feel connected to the place.”
“Fall in Western Colorado is stunning,” Carls says “and winter can be spectacular. When they intersect as they did for Four Days in October, it's magical. I feel fortunate that I was there with my Nikon, my experience and my dog KC. We spent as much time sitting and staring as photographing. Me anyway. KC was still wanting to chase chipmunks.”

First Friday Opening Reception & MVAG Wine and Cheese Party---
There will be a First Friday opening reception at Around the Corner Art Gallery, 447 E. Main St, Montrose on Sept. 2 from 5:30-8:00pm for 2 talented, local artists. Photographer, Chris Storeng, born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan has lived in Colorado since 1975. He’s always been interested in photography and images of any kind, believing each has a story to tell with a unique glimpse into a moment of time. Having been lucky enough to travel around the world many times for business, Chris has always taken the time to visit any art gallery that was near, with multiples trips to some of his favorites, such as the Rijks and Van Gogh Museums in Amsterdam. His photos reflect his past and present interests, which include climbing, firearms, old masters, the old west and World War II.
Pasetlist, Ray Moody, of Ouray was exposed at an early age to art by his mother, a life long artist in various media. Born and raised in southern California, he studied art throughout high school and college, where he majored in mechanical engineering. Ray worked for the West Covina Fire Department for 30 years as a firefighter and engineer. The firefighters work schedule left him time to devote to his artwork. His love of the outdoors and outdoor activities, such as hiking, bicycling and boating, is reflected in his work, most of which is landscapes and seascapes. As a student of pastel artist, Bruce Gomez, Ray did many of his subjects in pastels.
We invite you to enjoy a leisurely evening at the gallery viewing the new works of art, and partake in light appetizers, beverages and wine.
The Montrose Visual Arts Guild invites you to their Wine and Cheese Party at Around the Corner Art Gallery on Sept. 9th, 6:00 to 8:00pm.
