August 4: Introduction to Soccer. Registration for the Montrose Recreation District’s Introduction to Soccer Clinic begins August 4. Intro to soccer is a great way to introduce your 3 and 4 year olds to the sport of soccer. We will have three 1-hour long practices where we will introduce the most basic skills in a fun, laid back environment. We will cover kicking, passing, and dribbling. Much of our equipment is modified specifically for this age group. Registration ends September 2. Chose from three clinics: Mondays, Sept. 8, 15, 22; Tuesdays, Sept. 9, 16, 23 or Wednesdays, Sept. 10, 17, 24. Clinic is held at 4:00 pm at McNeil Fields. Fee is $20. Youth Lacrosse - Registration ends August 25. Registration began for the Montrose Recreation District’s Youth Fall Lacrosse league is going on now! Lacrosse is a new upcoming sport in Montrose and across the nation. During the fall season participants will attend clinics on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:00 – 5:00 pm and play inter-squad scrimmages. Registration ends August 25. Season is September 2 – October 16. Fee is $25. Participants must be middle school and high school age students. Youth Fall Soccer - Registration ends August 18. Registration for the Montrose Recreation District’s Youth Fall Soccer League is going on now. Divisions are available for boys and girls ages 5 years old to 6th grade. Soccer is a great way to get your kids off the coach and having fun with friends while staying healthy. Registration ends August 18. Fee is $25 ($30 after deadline). Practice begins the week of September 2. Games are September 13 – October 18. Adult Flag Football – Registration ends August 18. Registration begins for the Montrose Recreation District’s Adult Flag Football League on July 28. League is non-blocking and teams are 6 on 6. Participants must be at least 15 years old. Form your own teams. All equipment is provided on game days. Registration ends August 18. Fee is $300 per team. Season is September 4 – November 6. Adult Drop-In Soccer – Registration ends August 25. Early registration for the Montrose Recreation District’s Adult Drop-In Soccer League is going on now. This is a laid-back soccer league with all levels of play. Register early to pay a discounted fee for the whole season or pay a drop-in fee each time you play. Registration ends August 25. Season is August 25 – October 15. Games are played Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:45 – 8:00 pm at Holly Park. Fee is $25 for early registration or a $3 drop-in fee. Adult Fall Volleyball – Registration ends August 25. Registration for the Montrose Recreation District’s Adult Fall Volleyball League is going on now. Fall adult volleyball leagues are offered for six person teams in Men’s, Women’s and Co-ed divisions. Registration ends August 25. Fee is $225 per team. Season is September 8 – October 8. Youth and Family Fishing Adventure – Registration ends August 13: Registration is going on now for the Montrose Recreation District Youth and Family Fishing Adventure. Experienced or new fisherman and men, women and kids are welcome! Enjoy nature, relax on the lakeshores and meet new friends. Learn to bait and catch and try to catch a big one! Participants age 16 to 63 must have a valid fishing license. Registration ends August 13. Trip Date is August 17, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. Participants must be ages 5 and up. Walkin’ Mamas – Registration ends August 15. Registration is going on now for the Montrose Recreation District’s Walkin’ Mamas fitness class. This class is geared for new moms who want to lose some of their own baby fat. This 60-minute workout is perfect for the stay at home mom. It includes cardio, stretching and strength training. Class is designed for moms with babies ages 6 to 8 weeks old (or as long as they can stay in a stroller). Bring your fitness bands and hand weights to get an even better workout. August 15: Baby Sign Language. Registration is going on now for the Montrose Recreation District’s Baby Sign Language class. Using sign language eases frustrations experienced by the limited verbal communication between parents and young ones. Class is August 15, 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Climbing Tree Children’s Museum, 413 N. 1st Street. Class is designed for babies birth to 18 months. Fee is $20. August 15: Baby Sign Language. Registration is going on now for the Montrose Recreation District’s Infant Massage class. Learn the different touching techniques to help relieve stress, enhance body awareness and most importantly, deepen the bond and attachment between you and your child. August 16: Youth Appreciation Day. The annual Youth Appreciation Day will be held August 16. Events begin at 7:00 pm. All activities are free for school aged children. August 23: Slip N’ Slide Luau. Don’t miss the Slip n’ Slide Luau hosted by the Montrose Recreation District Aquatic Center, August 23, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Come dressed in your best Hawaiian shirt or bring your grass skirt and be ready to party. Limbo and a giant slip n’ slide will keep you groovin’. Snacks and refreshments will be served. August 18: Fall Swimming Lessons – Registration Begins August 18. Registration begins August 18 for the Montrose Recreation District’s Fall Swimming Lessons. Choose from two sessions: Session I – October 6 – 30; Session II – November 17 – December 11. Lessons are available for Parent/Tot, Pre-school, Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. Fee is $36 per person.
